Summary : A year of daily use and still very impressed
I live in the woods and every time we let out our dogs for bathroom breaks we need to see where they are and what else is around.
This light kicks out an impressive amount of light - limited more by your own ability to see than its ability to throw daylight. We have used this light at least 3 times a day for about 10 minutes constant each time for around a year. Hard to put a number on its actual range but objects 1/3rd of a mile away are easy to see (I am sure you could read by it 1/2 mile or more away). I have used it in daylight to see critters in the trees or through the woods - it is that bright. I did a ton of research and had considered 35-50w HID lights for $400-$1500 - no need. This light is as good as I could hope it to be. Very bright and not unreasonably heavy or large.
The battery still holds a good charge. I would say we can run at least 30 minutes without charging. Worth noting that if you are off and on with the power you will use considerable more battery as the initial start-up of the light uses significantly more power at start up.
The light has two brightness settings - I am not sure if mine does not work or if there is no real distinguishable difference - but I could not tell you one from the other.
The LED's on top work fine at full charge but as the battery runs down they get quite dim. The HID remains at full bright until the battery is low - then it quits. You can restart it a few more times but it does not give much notice of being low. I would prefer the LED's to be in a different position but it is fine as is.
I will be getting another one of these - maybe more. They work well and for the price cannot be touched for power or performance (yes - I have been through the candlepower forums to see other options).
I will probably build up my own NiMH battery pack when this one finally quits and continue to enjoy this light. But for now it works like it did out of the box with never an issue.

Summary : In a word it's Bright
My first impression on opening the box and picking up this spotlight was, "it's built to last". After the HID warms up (only a couple of seconds) it throws a wide beam of white light at least 150 feet. I'll report back on battery life after I've taken it camping a couple of times.

Summary : Super bright, and high quality worth atleast double the price
The HID spotlight is very bright, and seems to last quite a while on a single charge. I don't use the light for more than 3-5 minutes at a time, but I use it almost every day; and I only charge it once a week or less. The light is very heavy duty and rugged. It's pretty heavy, but the wrist strap that comes with it helps to take some of the strain, so it feels much lighter when its held with the strap on your wrist.
I use the light at night, when I let my dogs outside. If they don't come when I call them, I light up the back yard (which is a couple acres) and there is NO WERE for them to hide with this light. I occasionaly light up the corn field next to my house, and it shines like the sun on this 10 acre field. It's cool to see some of the wild life, that I was oblivious too (mostly deer).
For the price, this light can't be beat. I've been using it for about two months, and so far there have been no problems what so ever. If you're debating whether or not you should buy this... You should!

Summary : Unbelievable Brightness!
WOW! The best spotlight I have ever owned hands down! I have an acre + of land and a few nights a week the dogs start barking late so I needed a strong spot light to see what they are barking at. This light is the brightest I have ever seen. Completely blew away all my expectations! The light takes a few seconds to obtain full brightness as all HID's do and the run time is on average 15-30 minutes. I like it so much I plan on buying a second one in case this one breaks in the future. Love it!
